There’s something about putting out extreme effort to reach high places that has always appealed to Kirk Mancill. He has willed himself to the top of many mountains. The adrenaline rush he experiences while up there, gazing miles into the purpled distance with shaking legs and burning lungs, is always a thrilling reward.
“What I like best about climbing to gain altitude is that most of the time it’s not about having a special skill level,” says Kirk. “It’s really more about what you have in your gut—the determination and stamina to keep going, just keep pushing yourself, even when you’re in physical pain or you feel like you’ve already scraped the very bottom of your reserve.” He thrives on the simplicity of having a single, overriding goal: Get to the top, whatever it takes.
Kirk also practices this all-out attitude in the way he serves his clients in his real estate career, relentlessly fighting to obtain the very best terms in a contract, guarding their position and their rights with vigor, and guiding them energetically toward their summit—a successful and satisfying closing. “I really believe that the most important duty I have to my clients is to keep them focused on the big picture when obstacles arise in the process of buying or selling a home. It’s my job to help them maintain a positive focus and encourage them to dig down and tough it out until they achieve their real estate goals,” says Kirk.
Kirk was born and raised in Big Spring, Texas, where he absorbed the small-town values that he still lives by today from his family, his church, and his neighbors: Work hard. Do what’s right. Treat people the way you’d like to be treated. Be polite. If you want friends, you need to be one first. Be a leader. And after you’ve taken care of your business, have some fun!
Kirk is a UT grad who loves Austin so much that he always wanted to return after living elsewhere for 18 years, and he finally resettled here in 2006. Austin is and always has been a magical place to him, a city with an amazingly vibrant downtown scene, but also with stunning hill country getaways and natural swimming holes within short driving distance. And it’s a city that celebrates being different. “Austin is a unique city in Texas, because instead of feeling pressured to conform to a certain social norm, people who live here really feel like they can be completely themselves, no matter what that is, without fear of disapproval,” says Kirk. “I have no intention of ever living anywhere else.” He has two grown kids, and he treasures the role he plays in coaching them toward adulthood.
Kirk would love to have the opportunity to put his many years of extensive experience to work for you. Licensed since 1995, he is thoroughly knowledgeable in every aspect of residential real estate, including property management, which he offers under a separate company. He knows well and works the entire city of Austin and many outlying areas, from the hip and funky enclaves of the central neighborhoods to the bedroom communities of Cedar Park, Round Rock, Kyle, Dripping Springs, and Lakeway.
When he’s not busy leading clients to the summit of their success, Kirk enjoys traveling, weight training, backpacking, swimming, biking, and stand-up paddleboarding. He is a voracious reader of history, biography, and fiction, and he’s especially thrilled by survival stories. His favorite presidents are Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt. In giving back to his community, Kirk has served in many leadership positions at his church, and he has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, the Interfaith Hospitality Network, the Hill Country Ride for AIDS, and a relief mission to aid victims of the Bastrop fires. He is also an ongoing financial supporter of Chive Charities and KUT.
Always following the values instilled in him during his formative years, and applying the same tenacity it takes to get to the top of a mountain, Kirk’s pledge to every client is that he will treat your transaction like it was his own, and guard your position and interests as if the long-term consequences would be his own.
“I pride myself on my ability to communicate hard facts and share sound advice based on my broad experience, while inspiring my clients to persevere and have fun on the way to reaching their peak!”
